Rock and Water in Peru – Oxapampa

The training course was given by Mark Helmink, Yuliza Yaneth Llanco Vega, and Freerk Ykema.

Oxapampa is a small town located at an altitude of 2,000 meters in a beautiful valley of the Andes Mountains, reachable only by car. The twelve to fifteen-hour journey starts in Lima and takes you over a 5,000-meter-high, breathtaking pass where hundreds of trucks, buses, and cars move slowly along the mountain slopes like a long caterpillar. Twenty-five teachers and psychologists participated in the training. Prior to this, Mark and Yuliza had given Rock & Water training to a group of students for ten consecutive weeks, and for this, they had to cross the Andes Mountains twenty times! The positive results of that were the reason for organizing the three-day training for professionals, which was established in collaboration with the municipality of Chontabamba. In the coming years, multiple training sessions will take place, schools will be coached, and process research will be conducted.
